Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja on Sunday said that five new positive cases of coronavirus have been detected in the state. She said that three out of the five have travel history to Italy and were tested positive in India.

Revealing the travel details of the Italy-returned family, Shailaja said that the father, mother and child had landed in Kochi on March 1.
Urging people to share their travel information at the earliest, Shailaja said: “All those who had travelled in the flight [with the three infected people] should contact the authorities immediately,”
“Those returning from Corona-affected nationals should contact us at the earliest. If they don’t volunteer themselves, then it will be regarded as a crime. We are urging the society to come up responsibly,” Shailaja further said.
Addressing a press conference, Shailaja also announced that Attukal Pongala festival will not be celebrated in Thiruvananthapuram in the wake of the viral outbreak.
“We are heading into the Attukal Pongala festival in Thiruvananthapuram. So now we are in a situation to stop the festival completely,” she said. She even urged people with coronavirus-like symptoms to not attend the Pongala on Monday
“Many relatives would come during this season, those coming should not mingle with the general public and remain at home. District collector is in touch with hotels to trace foreign nationals. Health department will keep a video tracking of the gathering,” said Shailaja.
